This rain gauge measures rainfall using a self-emptying bucket-type mechanism. Each time enough rain is collected, it triggers a momentary button closure that can be read by your electronics project.
The switch closure can be measured with interrupt pins or a digital counter, making it suitable for microcontroller-based weather monitoring. The centre conductors of the RJ11 connector are connected to the gauge's switch.
This is the rain gauge used with the SparkFun weather meter kit.
Features:
- Self-emptying bucket-type rain gauge
- Activates a momentary button closure for each measured rainfall increment
- Switch closure can be measured using interrupt pins
- Switch closure can be measured using a digital counter
- Centre conductors of the RJ11 connector are connected to the gauge's switch
- Used with the weather meter kit
Specifications:
- Rainfall per closure: 0.011" (0.2794mm)
- Output: Momentary button closure
- Connector: RJ11
