The weather resistant MB7386 HRXL-MaxSonar-WRLT has millimeter resolution and a 6Hz read rate, and provides short to long distance detection and range information from 500mm to 9999mm for the nearest detectable target. It includes various output options: pulse-width, analog voltage, and TTL serial.

The MB7386 from the HRXL-MaxSonar-WR line of outdoor sensors is a rugged ultrasonic sensor component module. This sensor comes in a compact and robust PVC housing which meets the IP67 water intrusion standard and matches standard electrical 3/4-inch PVC pipe fittings.

The HRXL-MaxSonar-WR sensors are factory calibrated to match narrow sensor beam patterns and provide reliable long-range detection zones.

In addition, the MB7386 offers virtually noise free distance readings through the use of high-output acoustic power combined with continuously variable gain, real-time background automatic calibration, real-time waveform signature analysis, and noise rejection algorithms. This holds true even in the presence of many of the various acoustic or electrical noise sources.

Jargon buster

Plain-language definitions for the technical terms used above.

IP67
An ingress protection rating meaning the enclosure is dust-tight and can survive temporary immersion in water under specified test conditions. This matters when choosing a sensor for outdoor, wet, or wash-down environments.
Temperature compensation
Temperature compensation means the sensor adjusts its readings to reduce errors caused by changes in water temperature. This matters for field monitoring because ponds, rivers, and tanks can vary in temperature throughout the day and across seasons.
Thread
A low-power wireless mesh networking standard designed for smart home and IoT devices. It matters because Thread devices can relay messages through each other, helping build reliable networks for sensors and controllers.
Tolerance
Tolerance tells you how far the real resistance value may be from the printed value. A 1% resistor is useful when a circuit needs more predictable behaviour than a looser 5% or 10% part.
TTL serial
A simple serial data connection that uses microcontroller logic-level signals rather than computer RS-232 voltage levels. It matters because the camera can connect directly to many microcontroller pins or a USB-to-TTL serial adapter, but not safely to an old-style RS-232 port without conversion.
