The Gravity: LIS331HH is a high-performance 3-axis linear accelerometer with ultra-low power consumption of just 10 µA in low-power mode. It offers user-selectable measurement ranges of ±6g, ±12g, or ±24g and delivers 16-bit data output with configurable data rates from 0.5 Hz to 1 kHz.

Using the Gravity I2C interface, the sensor connects without soldering and features a toggle switch for changing the I2C address, making it easy to use multiple sensors on the same bus. Built to survive shocks up to 10,000g.

Key Features

  • Selectable Scales – ±6g, ±12g, or ±24g measurement ranges
  • 16-Bit Data Output – High-resolution acceleration measurements
  • Ultra-Low Power – 10 µA in low-power mode, 0.3 mA in normal mode
  • I2C Address Switch – Toggle between 0x19 (default) and 0x18
  • Gravity Interface – Plug-and-play I2C connection, no soldering required
  • 10,000g Shock Survivability – Extremely rugged design

Specifications

  • Operating Voltage – 3.3V–5V
  • Operating Current – 10 µA (low power) / 0.3 mA (normal)

Jargon buster

Plain-language definitions for the technical terms used above.

Gravity
Gravity is DFRobot’s plug-in connector system for sensors, motors and modules, using standard cables to reduce loose jumper wiring. It matters because Gravity-compatible parts can connect directly to these ports, while non-Gravity parts may need adapters or manual wiring.
I2C
I2C is a two-wire communication bus used by many sensors and small modules. It matters because several I2C devices can share the same two wires, but each device needs a compatible address and your controller must support I2C.
I2C address
An I2C address is the number a device uses so a microcontroller can tell it apart from other devices on the same I2C bus. It matters because two devices with the same fixed address may conflict if used together.
UART
UART is a simple serial connection that sends data over separate transmit and receive wires, often labelled TX and RX. It matters because this module is designed to replace a wired UART cable with a wireless link while keeping the same serial data format.
