What sensor should you use when you need to measure temperature? Most people will think of a DS18B20 temperature sensor first, but this sensor is only capable of measuring temperatures up to 125C. In order to measure temperatures greater than 100C you will need something with a greater temperature range and resistance. This is the sensor you need! We have used a PT100 resistance type high temperature probe which is often used in industrial applications. Using this probe you can measure a temperature range between 30-350C. The module itself is compatible 3.3V-5.5V supply, so Arduino, STM32 and other microcontrollers are compatible.

- DS18B20
- A common digital temperature sensor often sold in waterproof probe form. It matters here because the kit does not include temperature measurement, and a DS18B20 is the suggested add-on if your water readings need temperature context.
- Gravity
- Gravity is DFRobot’s plug-in connector system for sensors, motors and modules, using standard cables to reduce loose jumper wiring. It matters because Gravity-compatible parts can connect directly to these ports, while non-Gravity parts may need adapters or manual wiring.
- STM32
- STM32 is a family of microcontroller chips commonly used in embedded electronics. Knowing a product uses an STM32 can help when looking at firmware updates, pin connections, or low-level serial control options.
- Tolerance
- Tolerance tells you how far the real resistance value may be from the printed value. A 1% resistor is useful when a circuit needs more predictable behaviour than a looser 5% or 10% part.
