This compact full-solid-state LiDAR module uses a 64×8 DTOF matrix to measure 512 points at once, giving robots and automation projects a wider view of what is directly ahead. It is designed for forward obstacle avoidance, local blind spot detection and other short-range 3D perception tasks.
Direct Time-of-Flight laser ranging measures the flight time of light, helping the sensor resist everyday ambient light and temperature interference better than many infrared or ultrasonic approaches. The wide horizontal field of view helps capture furniture edges, low obstacles and narrow passages that single-point sensors can miss.
Measurement data can be output over UART for embedded projects or via Type-C for PC visualisation. Selectable output modes support single-point, single-row or full-data output, and the dedicated GUI can display measurement data, depth maps and grayscale images in real time.
The module fits neatly into the DFRobot Gravity ecosystem and includes a Gravity PH2.0-4P connection cable. DFRobot also provides product wiki documentation, dimension CAD STP files and a datasheet.

Jargon buster
Plain-language definitions for the technical terms used above.
- baud
- Baud is the signalling rate of a serial connection, often used as the speed setting for UART communication. Matching the baud rate matters because both connected devices must use the same setting for readable data.
- Gravity
- Gravity is DFRobot’s plug-in connector system for sensors, motors and modules, using standard cables to reduce loose jumper wiring. It matters because Gravity-compatible parts can connect directly to these ports, while non-Gravity parts may need adapters or manual wiring.
- LiDAR
- A sensing method that uses laser light to measure distance and build a 3D picture of the surroundings. It matters for robotics and autonomous systems because LiDAR data can help with mapping, navigation and obstacle detection.
- lux
- Lux is the standard unit for measuring how much light falls on a surface, similar to how a light meter reports brightness. A sensor that outputs lux gives readings that are easier to compare between rooms, outdoor conditions, and different projects.
- Torque
- A twisting force that causes something to rotate, usually measured in newton-metres or kilogram-centimetres. It matters when choosing motors, servos, gears, and tools because higher torque is needed to lift heavier loads, turn larger wheels, or move mechanisms without stalling.
- UART
- UART is a simple serial connection that sends data over separate transmit and receive wires, often labelled TX and RX. It matters because this module is designed to replace a wired UART cable with a wireless link while keeping the same serial data format.
