This DIY Lamp Kit PCB provides a simple platform for building your own custom LED lamp. The board has pads for up to 8 LEDs wired in series, a switch, a current-limiting resistor, and a power input — giving you complete control over which LEDs, power source, and brightness you use.
Solder on as many or as few LEDs as you like. Use all 8 for a bright lamp, or just one or two for a subtle accent light. The series circuit means you only need a single resistor for the whole string.
Key Features
- Up to 8 LED Pads – Solder any combination of standard 5 mm through-hole LEDs
- Series Circuit – Single resistor sets current for the entire LED string
- Switch Pad – On-board pad for a rocker or slide switch
- Flexible Power Input – Choose your own power source (USB, battery, etc.)
Suggested Resistor Values
- 3 V supply – 47 Ω
- 5 V supply – 100 Ω
- 7 V supply – 220 Ω
- 9 V supply – 330 Ω
Package Contents
- 1× DIY Lamp Kit PCB
Jargon buster
Plain-language definitions for the technical terms used above.
- LED
- A light-emitting diode (LED) is a small electronic component that emits light when current flows through it in the correct direction. Because it only conducts one way, its polarity matters, and a through-hole LED must be soldered the correct way around to light up.
- PCB
- A printed circuit board (PCB) is a board, usually rigid, with etched copper tracks that connect electronic components together without loose wiring. Components are mounted on the board and signals route between them through the copper layout.
- through-hole
- A mounting style where the component leads pass through holes in a circuit board and are soldered on the other side. Through-hole parts are often easier to handle and solder by hand, which is useful for classroom and hobby projects.
