The CygLiDAR D2 is a compact, solid-state time-of-flight LiDAR sensor that can generate both 2D range maps and 3D point cloud data. With no moving parts, it is designed for durability in vibration-prone or harsh indoor environments.

Its lightweight build and wide field of view suit space-constrained systems such as drones, AMRs and industrial automation platforms. The sensor provides a 120° horizontal field of view in both 2D and 3D modes, with a 65° vertical field of view for 3D data acquisition.

Communication is via UART at 3.3 V TTL levels, and a USB-to-UART converter plus connector cable are included for plug-and-play use with Windows PCs. CygLiDAR Viewer software is available to visualise 2D and 3D data during evaluation and integration.

dynamic range
Dynamic range describes how wide a span of values a sensor can measure, from very low to very high. For a light sensor, a wide dynamic range means it can work in dim indoor settings as well as bright sunlight without changing hardware.
LED
A light-emitting diode is a small electronic component that lights up when current flows through it in the correct direction. In this kit, LEDs create the flashing effect, so polarity and correct soldering matter for the project to work.
LiDAR
A sensing method that uses laser light to measure distance and build a 3D picture of the surroundings. It matters for robotics and autonomous systems because LiDAR data can help with mapping, navigation and obstacle detection.
