This smooth stainless steel fibre thread is made for sewing conductivity into fabric and wearable projects. It offers low resistance, good thermal conductivity, a high melting point, and high-temperature resistance.
Each roll includes 25 metres of conductive sewing thread with a 0.3mm diameter and a resistance of about 30-40Ω per metre. It is suitable for touchscreen gloves, anti-static clothing, wearable electronic equipment, anti-static brushes, driving LEDs, and other small-current electronic components.
Note that thinner wire offers more resistance, so keep thread length and current requirements in mind when planning your circuit.
Features:
- Low resistance: low resistance and stable resistivity
- High-temperature resistance: 650°C
- Melting point: 1350°C
- Washable: safe to wash
- Reusable: reusable
Specifications:
- Wire Resistance: 30-40Ω/m
- Length: 25m
- Diameter: 0.3mm
Included is 1 x Conductive Stainless Thread (30-40Ω), ready for e-textile prototyping and wearable electronics builds.
Jargon buster
Plain-language definitions for the technical terms used above.
- anti-static
- Anti-static materials help drain away small static charges instead of letting them build up. This can matter for clothing, brushes, or handling electronics where static discharge could be annoying or damaging.
- resistivity
- Resistivity describes how strongly a material resists the flow of electricity. For conductive thread, stable resistivity helps the electrical behaviour stay predictable along the stitched path.
- Thread
- A low-power wireless mesh networking standard designed for smart home and IoT devices. It matters because Thread devices can relay messages through each other, helping build reliable networks for sensors and controllers.
