The Adafruit Raspberry Pi Zero Case is a compact two-piece polycarbonate enclosure that protects your Pi Zero while keeping all ports accessible. Designed by Mike Doell, it features a sleek black base and clear top that snap together without screws.

The case provides slim openings for mini HDMI, Micro SD, and both Micro-USB ports (power and data). A snap-off GPIO slot lets you break out the header for pHATs, Bonnets, and ribbon cables. There's also a slot for the Pi Camera ribbon cable on v1.3 and later boards.

Key Features

  • Polycarbonate Construction – Ultra-durable, super-glossy black base with clear top
  • Snap-Together Design – Two pieces that click together without screws
  • Full Port Access – Openings for mini HDMI, Micro SD, and both Micro-USB ports
  • Snap-Off GPIO Slot – Break out the slot to access the 2×20 header for add-ons
  • Camera Slot – Ribbon cable pass-through for Pi Camera
  • Pocket-Sized – Compact enough for a pocket, bag, or toolbox

Compatibility

  • Raspberry Pi Zero v1.2
  • Raspberry Pi Zero v1.3 (with camera connector)
  • Raspberry Pi Zero W

Package Contents

  • 1× Black polycarbonate base
  • 1× Clear polycarbonate top
Important: This case is compatible with the Raspberry Pi Zero and Pi Zero W only. It does not fit the Pi Zero 2 W, Pi 3, Pi 4, Pi 5, or any full-sized Pi.
Note: This is the case only — Raspberry Pi Zero is not included. No cables or accessories are included.

Jargon buster

Plain-language definitions for the technical terms used above.

GPIO
General-purpose input/output pins are microcontroller pins you can set in software to read signals, switch devices on and off, or connect to peripherals. The number of GPIO pins matters because it limits how many buttons, LEDs, sensors, and other parts you can wire directly to the board.
HDMI
HDMI is a common digital video and audio connection used by computers, media players, and many displays. If a display kit has HDMI input, it is usually much easier to test with a single-board computer because it can act like a normal monitor.
