This flexible tactile pressure sensor gives your project a compact 4 x 8 pressure matrix for mapping contact across a small surface. It integrates 32 independent sensing points in a 20 x 10mm active area, making it useful for robotic grippers, electronic skin, wearable electronics, human-machine interaction and research setups.

The thin-film FPC sensor is designed for tight spaces and curved contact areas, with adhesive backing for easier mounting. A compact adapter board handles the sensing interface, so you can read matrix pressure data over UART instead of building separate analogue acquisition circuitry for each point.

UART cascade support helps reduce wiring complexity in multi-sensor prototypes, and the module is suited to Arduino, ESP32 and Raspberry Pi ecosystems. The kit includes the adapter board, the 4×8 flexible array pressure sensor and a 30cm flexible silicone connection cable.

Features:

  • 4 x 8 tactile matrix with 32 independent pressure sensing points
  • 20 x 10mm compact sensing area for high-density pressure mapping
  • 2.5mm sensing point pitch for localised force distribution detection
  • Response time below 10μs for dynamic tactile signal capture
  • UART communication interface with cascade support
  • Compatible with Arduino, ESP32, and Raspberry Pi ecosystems
  • Ultra-thin flexible FPC structure for electronic skin-style integration
  • Adhesive backing for easy mounting on compact or curved surfaces
  • Durability above 1,000,000 cycles at 1kg force
  • Repeatability of ±5% for long-term pressure sensing applications

Specifications:

  • Operating Voltage: 5V
  • Sampling Frequency: 20Hz / 50Hz
  • Sensing Area: 20 x 10mm
  • Array Configuration: 4 x 8 (32 points)
  • Communication Interface: UART
  • Trigger Force: 20g
  • Pressure Range: 20g ~ 5kg (per sensing point)
  • Pressure Type: Compression/Pressing
  • Durability: >1,000,000 times (at 1kg force)
  • Operating Temperature: -20℃ ~ +65℃
  • Adapter Board Size: 20 x 12mm

A strong fit for smart grippers, tactile feedback experiments, wearable pressure monitoring and compact interactive controls.

Jargon buster

Plain-language definitions for the technical terms used above.

ESP32
ESP32 is a family of microcontroller modules with built-in wireless features such as Bluetooth and WiFi. Knowing this product uses an ESP32-based module helps explain how it provides wireless serial communication and firmware update features.
FPC
FPC stands for flexible printed circuit, a flat flexible cable or connector style often used where space is tight. It matters because this breakout needs the correct pin count and pitch FPC cable to connect reliably to the display or high-speed interface.
UART
UART is a simple serial connection that sends data over separate transmit and receive wires, often labelled TX and RX. It matters because this module is designed to replace a wired UART cable with a wireless link while keeping the same serial data format.
