This compact 4015 BLDC motor combines a high-torque outer rotor motor with a factory-integrated AS5600 magnetic encoder, making it a neat motion-control package for robotics and precision motion projects.

It is designed for Field-Oriented Control (FOC), also known as vector control, to support smooth torque delivery, efficient operation and low-noise motion. At 24V rated operation, it delivers 1100RPM and 3500g·cm (0.35Nm) of rated torque.

The hollow-shaft design provides a 7.5mm aperture through the centre of the motor for routing wires or mechanical parts. The package includes 4015 3-phase brushless DC motor (with encoder) x1, MX1.25-4P to DuPont cable x1 and 3-pin motor cable x1.

The encoder supports I2C, PWM and analogue output options, and the motor is compatible with the open-source SimpleFOC library for projects using Arduino, ESP32 and Raspberry Pi. Documentation includes a product wiki and 3D model.

Features:

  • Integrated High-Precision Magnetic Encoder: Factory-integrated AS5600 magnetic encoder with 12-bit resolution.
  • Encoder feedback: 0.087 degrees angular measurement accuracy for closed-loop position, speed and torque control.
  • Output flexibility: Encoder supports I2C, PWM and analog output interfaces.

Jargon buster

Plain-language definitions for the technical terms used above.

12-bit resolution
12-bit resolution means the sensor’s measurement is divided into 4096 possible digital values. Higher resolution can make small changes in motion or tilt easier to detect, as long as the sensor range and noise are suitable for the project.
BLDC
BLDC stands for brushless DC motor, a motor type that uses electronic switching instead of brushes to make it spin. It matters because BLDC motors need a suitable driver and control method, especially when you want smooth low-speed movement or precise positioning.
encoder
A device attached to a motor or shaft that reports movement, such as rotation steps or position. In a pump system, an encoder can help measure or control how much the motor has turned, which affects how repeatable the watering amount can be.
ESP32
ESP32 is a family of microcontroller modules with built-in wireless features such as Bluetooth and WiFi. Knowing this product uses an ESP32-based module helps explain how it provides wireless serial communication and firmware update features.
Field-Oriented Control (FOC)
Field-Oriented Control is a motor-control method that carefully controls the magnetic fields inside a brushless motor for smoother and more precise motion. It matters for projects such as robotics, gimbals, and haptics where quiet operation, low-speed control, or accurate torque control is important.
I2C
I2C is a two-wire communication bus used by many sensors and small modules. It matters because several I2C devices can share the same two wires, but each device needs a compatible address and your controller must support I2C.
PWM
Pulse Width Modulation is a way for a digital pin to simulate variable output power by switching on and off very quickly. It matters for controlling things like LED brightness, motor speed, or servo-style signals from a microcontroller pin.
servo
A servo is a motor with built-in position control, usually told to move to a specific angle by a control signal. It matters when you need repeatable movement, such as steering, arms, flaps, or linkages, rather than continuous spinning.
Torque
A twisting force that causes something to rotate, usually measured in newton-metres or kilogram-centimetres. It matters when choosing motors, servos, gears, and tools because higher torque is needed to lift heavier loads, turn larger wheels, or move mechanisms without stalling.
