The RPI-1031 is a 4-directional tilt sensor that detects orientation using internal infrared emitters and detectors. Unlike simple single-axis tilt switches, this sensor can distinguish between multiple orientations, making it useful for projects that need to know which way is "up."

Inside the sensor, infrared light is either reflected or blocked depending on the physical orientation. By reading the digital output pins, you can determine which of the four orientations the sensor is currently in — ideal for tilt-based interfaces, orientation-aware devices, and interactive projects.

Key Features

  • 4-Way Orientation Detection – Detects multiple tilt positions, not just on/off
  • Infrared-Based – Uses internal IR emitters and reflectors for reliable, bounce-free sensing
  • Digital Output – Simple pin reading to determine current orientation
  • Compact Form Factor – Small through-hole package for easy integration

Ideal For

  • Tilt-based user interfaces and game controllers
  • Orientation-aware devices and displays
  • Robotics and motion-sensing projects
  • Interactive art installations

Package Contents

  • 1× RPI-1031 4-Way Tilt Sensor
