The DFRobot 2×1.2A DC Motor Driver with Gravity Connector is a compact dual-channel motor driver based on the TB6612FNG IC. This version features standard DFRobot Gravity connectors for plug-and-play wiring with Gravity-compatible expansion boards — no soldering or breadboard needed.
Each channel delivers up to 1.2 A continuous drive current with 2 A peak (continuous pulse) or 3.2 A peak (single pulse). The control logic is compatible with the DFRobot L298N motor driver, so existing code can be used directly. The TB6612FNG module can also be separated from the Gravity board for use on its own.
Key Features
- Gravity Connector – Plug-and-play wiring with DFRobot Gravity ecosystem
- Dual-Channel Full-Bridge Driver – Drive two DC motors independently
- TB6612FNG IC – Efficient driver with low on-resistance
- 1.2 A Continuous Per Channel – Up to 2 A peak (continuous pulse), 3.2 A peak (single pulse)
- 4-Wire Control – Only four wires needed to drive both motors
- L298N/Romeo Compatible – Same control logic, code can be ported directly
Specifications
- Logic Voltage (VCC) – 2.7–5.5 V
- Motor Voltage (VM) – 2.5–12 V
- Driver Channels – 2
- Continuous Current – 1.2 A per channel
- Peak Current – 2 A (continuous pulse) / 3.2 A (single pulse)
- Dimensions – 40 × 40 mm
Ideal For
- DFRobot Gravity ecosystem motor control
- Small robot builds and mobile platforms
- Arduino projects using Gravity IO expansion boards
- Quick prototyping without soldering

Jargon buster
Plain-language definitions for the technical terms used above.
- DC
- DC means direct current, where electricity flows in one constant direction, as supplied by batteries, USB ports and many plug-pack power supplies. When a product specifies DC, it runs from a DC supply rather than mains AC, so you need to provide the correct voltage and polarity.
- Gravity
- Gravity is DFRobot’s plug-in connector system for sensors, motors and modules, using standard cables to reduce loose jumper wiring. It matters because Gravity-compatible parts can connect directly to these ports, while non-Gravity parts may need adapters or manual wiring.
- motor driver
- An electronic circuit that lets a low-power controller switch and control a motor that needs more current than the controller pins can safely provide. Checking motor driver support matters because pumps and motors usually cannot be connected directly to a microcontroller output.
- VCC
- VCC is the positive power-supply connection on a chip or module. Connecting it to the correct supply voltage is needed for the part to power on and helps avoid damaging the electronics.
