This 12V DC solenoid valve controls water flow through a 3/4″ threaded inlet and outlet. It is normally closed — fluid is blocked until 12V is applied to the fast-on spade connectors on the solenoid coil. Connect it to a pressurised water source such as a garden hose or mains supply for automated irrigation, filling, or fluid control projects.
This valve requires water pressure to open fully — it is not suitable for gravity-fed systems. It operates at a minimum of approximately 3 PSI and allows around 3 L/min of flow at that pressure.
Key Features
- Normally Closed Operation – Blocks flow when unpowered, opens at 12V DC
- 3/4″ Threaded Connections – Standard threaded inlet and outlet for common hose and plumbing fittings
- Fast-On Spade Connectors – Easy wiring to the solenoid coil
- Pressure-Operated – Requires minimum ~3 PSI water pressure to open
Ideal For
- Automated garden and greenhouse irrigation
- Aquaponics and hydroponics water management
- Home automation fluid control systems
- Microcontroller-driven water dispensing projects
Package Contents
- 1× 12V Solenoid Valve (3/4″)
Jargon buster
Plain-language definitions for the technical terms used above.
- DC
- DC means direct current, where electricity flows in one constant direction, as supplied by batteries, USB ports and many plug-pack power supplies. When a product specifies DC, it runs from a DC supply rather than mains AC, so you need to provide the correct voltage and polarity.
- Gravity
- Gravity is DFRobot’s plug-in connector system for sensors, motors and modules, using standard cables to reduce loose jumper wiring. It matters because Gravity-compatible parts can connect directly to these ports, while non-Gravity parts may need adapters or manual wiring.
- microcontroller
- A microcontroller is a small computer on a single chip that runs a stored program and controls connected inputs and outputs such as buttons, sensors, displays and communication interfaces. In a device built around one, it is the part that executes the code and coordinates the device's behaviour.
