Plain-language definitions for the technical terms used above.
- AWG
- American Wire Gauge is a numbering system for wire thickness, where a lower number means a thicker wire. The AWG rating matters because thicker wire can usually carry more current with less voltage drop and heating.
- BL
- BL usually stands for backlight, the light source that makes an LCD visible. Some modules let you control this pin to turn the backlight on, dim it, or save power in battery projects.
- pH
- A measure of how acidic or alkaline a liquid is, on a scale from 0 to 14 where 7 is neutral, lower is acidic and higher is alkaline. When a probe or sensor quotes a pH range and accuracy, check they cover the readings your project needs.
