The Solar Power Manager Micro is an ultra-low-power solar energy management module designed for 1–3 V small solar panels. Built around the SPV1050 IC with MPPT (Maximum Power Point Tracking), it maximises solar conversion efficiency even under weak sunlight — enabling charge-free, battery-replacement-free operation for low-power IoT devices.

The module charges a 3.7 V lithium battery via solar (up to 70 mA) or USB (up to 100 mA), and provides a regulated 3.3 V 90 mA output capable of handling burst current from wireless transmitters. Over-charge, over-discharge, and reverse connection protection extend battery life in long-term deployments. A 2 V 160 mA monocrystalline solar panel is included.

Key Features

  • MPPT Algorithm – Constant voltage ratio tracking for maximum solar efficiency
  • Ultra-Low Quiescent Current – <3 µA standby draw
  • Dual Charging – Solar (up to 70 mA) or USB (up to 100 mA)
  • 3.3 V Regulated Output – 90 mA continuous for low-power wireless devices
  • Battery Protection – Over-charge, over-discharge, and reverse connection
  • Output Protection – Short circuit and over-current
  • Solar Panel Included – 2 V 160 mA monocrystalline panel

Jargon buster

Plain-language definitions for the technical terms used above.

AWG
American Wire Gauge is a numbering system for wire thickness, where a lower number means a thicker wire. The AWG rating matters because thicker wire can usually carry more current with less voltage drop and heating.
DC
DC means direct current, where electricity flows in one constant direction, as supplied by batteries, USB ports and many plug-pack power supplies. When a product specifies DC, it runs from a DC supply rather than mains AC, so you need to provide the correct voltage and polarity.
Headers
Rows of connector contacts on a fixed pitch (commonly 2.54 mm) used to link a board to a breadboard, jumper wires, or another board. They come as male pin headers and female socket headers; when a module ships with pre-soldered headers it can be used straight away, whereas bare pads require soldering the pins yourself.
iBeacon
iBeacon is Apple’s Bluetooth beacon format for broadcasting an identifier that nearby devices can recognise. Support for iBeacon matters when building proximity or location projects that need compatibility with apps or systems using that format.
IoT
Short for Internet of Things, meaning physical devices that connect to networks or the internet to send data or be controlled remotely. It matters if you want projects such as connected sensors, remote controls or classroom data-logging activities.
monocrystalline solar panel
A solar panel made from single-crystal silicon cells, commonly used where good efficiency is needed in a compact panel. This matters when estimating how much sunlight and panel area are needed to keep batteries charged.
VOC
Volatile organic compounds are gases released from things like paints, cleaners, smoke, and some plastics. A VOC reading helps indicate indoor air quality, but it is usually an index or estimate rather than a direct identification of each chemical.
