The thirst is real! Keep your plants happy and hydrated with the Plant Care Kit for micro:bit or CLUE. This kit will teach you all about how to keep your plants in good condition, by measuring the soil moisture content using nails and alligator clips to tell you the state of your plant

Kit contains:

  • 1 x Adafruit Bonsai Buckaroo
  • 1 x Submersible 3V DC Water Pump - Horizontal Type
  • 1 x Tubing for Submersible Pumps - PVC 6mm ID - 1 Meter Long
  • 2 x 15" long alligator clip test lead 
  • 2 x 9 cm (3.5") long stainless steel nails
  • Cute plant friend not included! Use any planter with soil you can place a nail into.

You will also need a controller board. You can use a micro:bit V1, micro:bit V2 or CLUE board! No soldering required for this project.

alligator clip
An alligator clip is a spring-loaded metal clip used to make temporary electrical connections to wires, terminals or test points. It is useful for quick bench testing, but it is less secure than a screw terminal or locking connector.
DC
DC means direct current, where electricity flows in one constant direction, as supplied by batteries, USB ports and many plug-pack power supplies. When a product specifies DC, it runs from a DC supply rather than mains AC, so you need to provide the correct voltage and polarity.
