A flexible piezo vibration sensor from Measurement Specialties, commonly used for detecting flex, touch, vibration, and shock. The PVDF polymer film generates a small AC voltage (up to ±90 V) when it moves, which can be brought down to ADC-readable levels with a simple resistor divider. This version includes a mass attached to the tip for increased motion sensitivity.
Key Features
- PVDF Piezo Polymer Film – Flexible sensing element for vibration and impact detection
- Laminated Construction – Higher voltage output for improved sensitivity
- Wide Dynamic Range – Suitable for subtle vibrations through to strong impacts
- Weighted Tip – Attached mass increases sensitivity to motion
- Breadboard Friendly – 0.1″ (2.54 mm) pitch leads with solderable crimp pins
Ideal For
- Vibration and shock detection
- Impact sensing and tap detection
- Flexible switch applications
- Arduino and microcontroller analogue input projects
Package Contents
- 1× Piezo Vibration Sensor (large, with mass)
- Solderable crimp pins

Jargon buster
Plain-language definitions for the technical terms used above.
- ADC
- An analogue-to-digital converter reads a changing voltage and turns it into a number the microcontroller can use. It matters when connecting analogue sensors such as light, sound, or variable-resistor sensors.
- dynamic range
- Dynamic range describes how wide a span of values a sensor can measure, from very low to very high. For a light sensor, a wide dynamic range means it can work in dim indoor settings as well as bright sunlight without changing hardware.
- microcontroller
- A microcontroller is a small computer on a single chip that runs a stored program and controls connected inputs and outputs such as buttons, sensors, displays and communication interfaces. In a device built around one, it is the part that executes the code and coordinates the device's behaviour.
