An 8-digit green LED segment display module with I2C communication, part of the DFRobot Gravity sensor and module range. It provides a clear, bright numerical display with 16 levels of adjustable brightness, making it easy to show sensor readings, counters, clocks, and other numerical data in your projects.

The Gravity I2C interface keeps wiring simple — just connect power, ground, SDA, and SCL to your Arduino or other microcontroller. The module supports the full 8-segment × 8-digit display format for showing numbers, basic characters, and decimal points.

Key Features

  • 8-Digit 7-Segment Display – Green LEDs for clear numerical readout
  • I2C Communication – Simple two-wire connection via Gravity interface
  • 16-Level Brightness – Adjustable brightness to suit different environments
  • 5V Operation – Direct compatibility with Arduino and other 5V boards
  • Wide Temperature Range – Operates from –40°C to +85°C

Ideal For

  • Displaying sensor readings (temperature, distance, etc.)
  • Counters, timers, and clock displays
  • Score boards and measurement readouts
  • Arduino and microcontroller dashboard projects

Jargon buster

Plain-language definitions for the technical terms used above.

DC
DC means direct current, where electricity flows in one constant direction, as supplied by batteries, USB ports and many plug-pack power supplies. When a product specifies DC, it runs from a DC supply rather than mains AC, so you need to provide the correct voltage and polarity.
Gravity
Gravity is DFRobot’s plug-in connector system for sensors, motors and modules, using standard cables to reduce loose jumper wiring. It matters because Gravity-compatible parts can connect directly to these ports, while non-Gravity parts may need adapters or manual wiring.
I2C
I2C is a two-wire communication bus used by many sensors and small modules. It matters because several I2C devices can share the same two wires, but each device needs a compatible address and your controller must support I2C.
LED
A light-emitting diode (LED) is a small electronic component that emits light when current flows through it in the correct direction. Because it only conducts one way, its polarity matters, and a through-hole LED must be soldered the correct way around to light up.
microcontroller
A microcontroller is a small computer on a single chip that runs a stored program and controls connected inputs and outputs such as buttons, sensors, displays and communication interfaces. In a device built around one, it is the part that executes the code and coordinates the device's behaviour.
PCB
A printed circuit board (PCB) is a board, usually rigid, with etched copper tracks that connect electronic components together without loose wiring. Components are mounted on the board and signals route between them through the copper layout.
