This flat vibration switch is a low-sensitivity, directional trigger that closes its circuit when bumped from the side. Inside, a soft spring coiled around a metal pin makes contact when vibration or impact occurs, acting as a momentary closed switch. When still, the switch remains open.

Unlike most vibration switches, this one has a flat profile that sits flush on a PCB without sticking up. The pin spacing is breadboard-compatible, making it easy to prototype with on a solderless breadboard or solder directly into a circuit board.

Key Features

  • Flat Profile – Sits flush on PCBs, unlike tall cylindrical vibration switches
  • Breadboard Friendly – Standard pin spacing for easy prototyping
  • Low Sensitivity – Triggers on side impacts, not minor vibrations
  • Directional – Responds to lateral bumps rather than vertical movement
  • Normally Open – Acts as a closed switch only when triggered

Ideal For

  • Motion and bump detection projects
  • Wearable electronics and e-textiles
  • Educational projects and breadboard prototyping
  • Vibration-triggered alarms and indicators

Package Contents

  • 1× Flat Vibration Switch

Jargon buster

Plain-language definitions for the technical terms used above.

e-textiles
Electronic textiles are fabrics or clothing that include electrical parts such as conductive thread, sensors, LEDs, or small controllers. This matters because parts for e-textiles need to survive bending, sewing, and sometimes washing.
PCB
A printed circuit board is a rigid board with copper tracks that connect electronic parts without loose wires. For this kit, the PCBs also form the airplane shape, so they are both the circuit base and part of the finished model.
solderless breadboard
A reusable board with connected holes for building temporary circuits without soldering. It matters in beginner kits because students can change wiring quickly and safely while learning how components connect.
