This compact multifunctional environmental sensor combines four professional sensor chips into a single breakout board: SHTC3 (temperature and humidity), BMP280 (barometric pressure), VEML7700 (ambient light), and ML8511 (UV). An on-board MCU converts raw sensor data into standard units, so you get ready-to-use readings without complex calibration.

Supporting both UART and I2C communication, the Fermion breakout version is designed for direct PCB soldering. Complete Arduino and Python libraries are provided for quick integration.

Key Features

  • 5 Environmental Parameters – Temperature, humidity, pressure, ambient light, and UV intensity
  • On-Board MCU – Outputs data in standard units (°C, %, kPa, lx, mW/m²)
  • Dual Interface – Switchable I2C and UART output modes
  • Compact Breakout – Solderable directly onto PCBs
  • High Precision – Professional-grade sensor chips with careful thermal layout

Specifications

  • Working Voltage: 3.3V DC
  • Working Current: 35 mA
  • Interface: I2C, UART
  • Operating Temperature: −20°C to 70°C
  • Dimensions: 30 × 20.5mm

Sensor Details

  • Temperature (SHTC3): −40°C to 125°C, ±0.2°C accuracy, 0.01°C resolution
  • Humidity (SHTC3): 0–100% RH, ±2% RH accuracy, 0.01% RH resolution
  • Barometric Pressure (BMP280): 300–1100 hPa, ±1 hPa absolute accuracy
  • Ambient Light (VEML7700): 0–120 klx, 0.0036 lx/ct resolution
  • UV (ML8511): UV-A (320–400 nm) and UV-B (280–320 nm), output in mW/m²

Ideal For

  • Indoor and outdoor environmental monitoring
  • Weather station projects
  • Smart home environmental sensing
  • UV exposure monitoring

Package Contents

  • 1× Fermion Multifunctional Environmental Sensor (Breakout)

Jargon buster

Plain-language definitions for the technical terms used above.

breakout
A breakout is a small circuit board that makes a tiny or hard-to-solder component easier to connect to with standard pins. It matters because this OLED module can be wired into a microcontroller project without needing to solder directly to the display’s fine contacts.
I2C
I2C is a two-wire communication bus used by many sensors and small modules. It matters because several I2C devices can share the same two wires, but each device needs a compatible address and your controller must support I2C.
PCB
A printed circuit board is a rigid board with copper tracks that connect electronic parts without loose wires. For this kit, the PCBs also form the airplane shape, so they are both the circuit base and part of the finished model.
Torque
A twisting force that causes something to rotate, usually measured in newton-metres or kilogram-centimetres. It matters when choosing motors, servos, gears, and tools because higher torque is needed to lift heavier loads, turn larger wheels, or move mechanisms without stalling.
UART
UART is a simple serial connection that sends data over separate transmit and receive wires, often labelled TX and RX. It matters because this module is designed to replace a wired UART cable with a wireless link while keeping the same serial data format.
