A 12V DC electric solenoid lock with a steel case and steel casting parts. Apply power to retract the latch and unlock; remove power and the latch springs back to the locked position. The lock includes signal feedback output so you can monitor its state from a microcontroller.

Built with a pure copper electromagnetic valve coil for stable performance and temperature tolerance. The durable latch hook is rated for over 500,000 cycles.

Key Features

  • Fail-Secure Design – Locked by default, unlocks when powered
  • Signal Feedback – Monitor lock state from a controller
  • Durable Construction – Steel case with steel casting parts, 500,000+ cycle life
  • Copper Coil – Stable performance with good temperature tolerance

Specifications

  • Operating Voltage – 12V DC
  • Operating Current – 1.5A
  • Dimensions – 73 × 58 × 13.3mm

Ideal For

  • Smart lock and access control projects
  • IoT door and cabinet locking systems
  • Arduino and Raspberry Pi controlled locks
  • Automated enclosure security
Warning: Do not keep the lock energised for more than 5 seconds at a time. Prolonged power application will damage the solenoid valve.

Jargon buster

Plain-language definitions for the technical terms used above.

DC
DC means direct current, where electricity flows in one constant direction, as supplied by batteries, USB ports and many plug-pack power supplies. When a product specifies DC, it runs from a DC supply rather than mains AC, so you need to provide the correct voltage and polarity.
IoT
Short for Internet of Things, meaning physical devices that connect to networks or the internet to send data or be controlled remotely. It matters if you want projects such as connected sensors, remote controls or classroom data-logging activities.
microcontroller
A microcontroller is a small computer on a single chip that runs a stored program and controls connected inputs and outputs such as buttons, sensors, displays and communication interfaces. In a device built around one, it is the part that executes the code and coordinates the device's behaviour.
Tolerance
Tolerance tells you how far the real resistance value may be from the printed value. A 1% resistor is useful when a circuit needs more predictable behaviour than a looser 5% or 10% part.
