A digital infrared proximity sensor with an adjustable detection range of 0–200 cm. It uses diffuse IR reflection to detect objects or people, outputting a digital high signal when something enters the sensing zone and returning to low when cleared — ideal for smart home, security, robotics, and automation applications.

Detection distance is easily configured using the onboard button: press and hold while the indicator flashes, then position the target at your desired distance. The sensor automatically saves the calibration. A standard 3-pin digital cable connects directly to Arduino I/O expansion boards.

Key Features

  • Adjustable Detection Range – 0–200 cm, set via onboard button
  • Digital Output – Active-high switch signal
  • IP67 Waterproof – Suitable for outdoor and harsh environments
  • Wide Detection Angle – 30–40° cone
  • 3-Pin Interface – Plug directly into Arduino expansion boards

Specifications

  • Power Supply: 5 V
  • Detection Distance: 0–200 cm (adjustable)
  • Output: Digital switch (active-high)
  • Detection Angle: 30–40° cone
  • Operating Temperature: −10 to 60 °C
  • Storage Temperature: −20 to 70 °C
  • Waterproof Rating: IP67

Ideal For

  • Smart home and security systems
  • Robot obstacle detection
  • Automated door and gate triggers
  • Industrial presence sensing

Resources

Jargon buster

Plain-language definitions for the technical terms used above.

IP67
An ingress protection rating meaning the enclosure is dust-tight and can survive temporary immersion in water under specified test conditions. This matters when choosing a sensor for outdoor, wet, or wash-down environments.
Proximity sensor
A sensor that detects the presence of a nearby object without physical contact, using methods such as infrared, ultrasonic, capacitive, inductive or time-of-flight. Useful ranges vary widely between types, from a few millimetres to several metres, so check a given sensor's specified range to see whether it suits close-up touch-free triggers or longer-distance detection.
