This compact DC-DC boost converter steps up input voltages from 2.5V to a selectable output of 5V, 8V, 9V, or 12V (default 12V) at over 80% conversion efficiency. Two solder pads (A and B) on the front of the module allow you to configure the output voltage — refer to the markings on the back of the board for the correct pad configuration.

An onboard power indicator LED shows working status at a glance. The small form factor makes it easy to integrate into battery-powered devices, LED lighting, and portable electronics.

Key Features

  • Selectable Output Voltage – 5V, 8V, 9V, or 12V via solder pads
  • High Efficiency – ≥80% conversion efficiency
  • Compact Design – Easy to integrate into projects
  • Power Indicator – Onboard LED shows operating status

Specifications

  • Input Voltage – DC 2.5V to VOUT (must be less than set output voltage)
  • Output Voltage – 5V / 8V / 9V / 12V (default 12V)
  • Output Current (3.7V input) – 5V @ 1A, 8V @ 0.5A, 9V @ 0.45A, 12V @ 0.3A
  • Output Current (5V input) – 8V @ 0.7A, 9V @ 0.6A, 12V @ 0.5A
  • Conversion Efficiency – ≥80%

Ideal For

  • Battery boost applications
  • LED lighting drivers
  • Portable power supply projects

Package Contents

  • 5× DC-DC boost power supply modules
Warning: This module has no reverse polarity protection. Ensure correct polarity when connecting power. The input voltage must be less than the set output voltage or the module will be damaged.

Jargon buster

Plain-language definitions for the technical terms used above.

boost converter
A boost converter is a power circuit that raises a lower input voltage to a higher output voltage. It matters here because the board can power a sensor that needs a higher supply voltage while still using a single connector for power and data.
LED
A light-emitting diode is a small electronic component that lights up when current flows through it in the correct direction. In this kit, LEDs create the flashing effect, so polarity and correct soldering matter for the project to work.
reverse polarity protection
A circuit feature that helps protect the board if power is connected the wrong way around. It matters because it can reduce the chance of damaging the breakout during wiring mistakes, especially in classroom or prototyping use.
