This anti-static ESD rework mat provides a safe working surface for electronic repair and assembly, especially when handling ESD-sensitive components. The high-resistance coating (tens of megaohms) dissipates static charge when connected to earth ground via the included grounding clip.

The mat is resistant to corrosion, glues, and adhesives, and can be cleaned with water — just avoid scrubbing too hard to preserve the anti-static coating. While somewhat heat-resistant, it's not as tolerant as silicone mats, so use a PCB holder when hot-air reworking.

Key Features

  • ESD Protection – High-resistance anti-static coating dissipates static charge safely
  • Grounding Clip Included – Connect to an earth ground (e.g. grounded metal chassis) to activate protection
  • Chemical Resistant – Resistant to corrosion, glues, and adhesives
  • A4 Size – 30 × 20cm, 2mm thick
  • Easy to Clean – Wipe down with water

Specifications

  • Size: 30 × 20cm (A4)
  • Thickness: 2mm
  • Surface Resistance: Tens of megaohms
  • Includes: Grounding clip (pre-installed)

Ideal For

  • ESD-sensitive electronic repair and assembly
  • Soldering and rework stations
  • Workbenches handling sensitive components
Tip: To test the coating, connect a multimeter in microampere mode in-line with a ~12V power supply. You should see a few microamps of current pass through the mat. Standard resistance mode is not sensitive enough.
Note: Solder, soldering iron, and other components are not included.

Jargon buster

Plain-language definitions for the technical terms used above.

anti-static
Anti-static materials help drain away small static charges instead of letting them build up. This can matter for clothing, brushes, or handling electronics where static discharge could be annoying or damaging.
ESD protection
ESD protection helps protect electronics from damage caused by static electricity discharges. It is useful on development boards because cables, sensors and modules are often plugged and unplugged during prototyping.
PCB
A printed circuit board is a rigid board with copper tracks that connect electronic parts without loose wires. For this kit, the PCBs also form the airplane shape, so they are both the circuit base and part of the finished model.
