The Io V2 is an Alchitry Element Board designed for learning and experimenting with digital design on Alchitry Au and Cu FPGA development boards. It keeps the same beginner-friendly controls and indicators as the original Io, now in the Alchitry V2 form factor.
On-board interactive hardware includes four 7-segment LED digits, five momentary push buttons, 24 standard LEDs and a 3x8 DIP switch bank. These inputs and outputs are well suited to introductory FPGA tutorials and hands-on logic projects.
Alchitry Elements work like expansion boards for the Au and Cu families. This board has four connectors on the underside that snap onto an Au or Cu board, but it does not provide top-side connection points, so additional Elements cannot be stacked above it.
Documentation provided by the supplier includes a schematic and a 3D STEP model.
Features:
- 4 Digit 7-Segment Display
- 5 Push Buttons
- 24 LEDs
- 3x8 DIP Switches
Jargon buster
Plain-language definitions for the technical terms used above.
- DIP switch
- A DIP switch is a small set of physical on/off switches used to configure hardware settings without software. It matters because changing features such as auto power-on or charging limits may require moving these tiny switches correctly.
- LED
- A light-emitting diode (LED) is a small electronic component that emits light when current flows through it in the correct direction. Because it only conducts one way, its polarity matters, and a through-hole LED must be soldered the correct way around to light up.
