Add vibrant, individually addressable RGB lighting to your project with this 1-metre SK9822 LED strip. Featuring 60 LEDs with integrated drivers, each pixel can be independently controlled for colour and brightness over a standard SPI interface — no strict timing requirements like one-wire protocols.

The SK9822 offers constant-current control, so voltage drops over long power runs have minimal effect on colour and brightness as long as the supply stays above 3.5V. An additional 5-bit brightness register allows smooth dimming while maintaining full 24-bit colour control. Works as a drop-in replacement for APA102C-based strips in most applications.

Note: Due to slight colour differences between SK9822 and APA102C LEDs, mixing the two types in the same project is not recommended. A minor protocol difference may also require code adjustments when migrating from APA102C.

constant-current driver
A constant-current driver supplies a set current even as the load voltage changes. For a TFT backlight, this helps keep brightness stable and prevents the LEDs from being overdriven.
LED
A light-emitting diode is a small electronic component that lights up when current flows through it in the correct direction. In this kit, LEDs create the flashing effect, so polarity and correct soldering matter for the project to work.
microcontroller
A microcontroller is a small computer on a chip that runs your program and controls connected inputs and outputs. For this product, it is the part that reads buttons and sensors, drives the display and speaker, and communicates over Bluetooth.
RGB
Short for red, green and blue, usually referring to an LED that can mix those three colours. It matters because controlling an RGB LED teaches how separate outputs combine to create different colours.
SPI
A fast serial communication bus often used for displays, memory cards, and sensors. It matters because SPI devices need specific pins for clock and data, plus a separate chip-select line for each device.
