A plug-and-play NeoPixel strip with a JST PH 3-pin connector for instant connection to STEMMA-compatible boards. The strip has 30 individually addressable RGB LEDs on a 1-metre black flex PCB — perfect for Hallowing, PyPortal, BrainCraft HAT, or any board with a 3-pin JST PH NeoPixel socket.

Uses SK6812 LEDs that work at 3–5V logic and power, with no inline resistor needed. The 30 cm colour-coded wires terminate in a JST PH plug for a secure, solder-free connection.

Key Features

  • JST PH 3-Pin Connector – Plugs directly into STEMMA-compatible NeoPixel sockets for instant setup
  • 30 RGB LEDs – Individually addressable with 24-bit colour on a 1-metre strip
  • 3–5V Compatible – SK6812 LEDs work at 3V logic and power, no inline resistor needed
  • Colour-Coded Wires – 30 cm leads: red (power), green (signal), black (ground)
  • Black Flex PCB – Blends into dark surfaces with high contrast when off
  • Weatherproof Sheathing – Protective casing included
  • Cuttable – Shorten the strip by cutting with wire cutters
  • Single-Pin Control – Only one digital output pin required

Power Requirements

  • Voltage – 3–5V DC (do not exceed 6V)
  • Max Current – ~1A at full white (4.8W for the full metre)
  • Typical Current – Colourful patterns draw well under 1/3 of maximum
  • Can often be powered directly from your microcontroller board

Ideal For

  • Hallowing, PyPortal, and BrainCraft HAT projects
  • Any board with a STEMMA 3-pin JST PH NeoPixel socket
  • Quick prototyping without soldering
  • Wearables and costumes

Package Contents

  • 1× NeoPixel LED Strip – 30 LED/m, 1 metre, black PCB, with JST PH 3-pin connector

Jargon buster

Plain-language definitions for the technical terms used above.

CircuitPython
A beginner-friendly version of Python designed to run directly on microcontroller boards. If a product supports CircuitPython, you can often program it by copying code files onto the board rather than setting up a more complex toolchain.
DC
DC means direct current, where electricity flows in one constant direction, as supplied by batteries, USB ports and many plug-pack power supplies. When a product specifies DC, it runs from a DC supply rather than mains AC, so you need to provide the correct voltage and polarity.
JST PH
A small keyed plug-and-socket connector with 2 mm pin spacing, often used for low-power electronics connections. You need the correct JST PH cable, and its current rating limits how much power should be passed through it.
LED
A light-emitting diode (LED) is a small electronic component that emits light when current flows through it in the correct direction. Because it only conducts one way, its polarity matters, and a through-hole LED must be soldered the correct way around to light up.
microcontroller
A microcontroller is a small computer on a single chip that runs a stored program and controls connected inputs and outputs such as buttons, sensors, displays and communication interfaces. In a device built around one, it is the part that executes the code and coordinates the device's behaviour.
NeoPixel
A type of addressable LED system where colour data is sent along a single digital data line from one LED or controller to the next. Compatibility matters because the timing and signal format must match for the lights or driver board to respond correctly.
PCB
A printed circuit board (PCB) is a board, usually rigid, with etched copper tracks that connect electronic components together without loose wiring. Components are mounted on the board and signals route between them through the copper layout.
pH
A measure of how acidic or alkaline a liquid is, on a scale where 7 is neutral. For a water monitoring kit, pH tells you about water chemistry and whether the included probe matches the range and accuracy your project needs.
RGB
Short for red, green and blue, the three primary colours of light that are mixed in varying amounts to make a wide range of colours. In electronics RGB can refer to an LED or pixel that blends these three colours, or to a colour signal or interface that carries separate red, green and blue channels.
STEMMA
A plug-and-cable connection system used on some maker electronics boards to make wiring simpler. If a product uses STEMMA, you need the matching cable or connector type to plug it in without soldering.
