Stranded NeoPixel dots are perfect for adding individual points of colour to costumes, wearables, and decorations without the rigidity of a PCB strip. Each strand contains 20 individually addressable NeoPixel LEDs enclosed in small weatherproof plastic buttons, spaced 2 inches (5 cm) apart.
Each dot has plastic hooks moulded into the back for tack-sewing onto fabric. The flexible wire cabling between dots allows natural movement, making these far more suitable for wearables than traditional NeoPixel strips that can crack when bent repeatedly.
Key Features
- 20 NeoPixel Dots – Individually addressable RGB LEDs in small plastic enclosures
- 2-Inch (5 cm) Spacing – Close spacing for dense dot patterns
- Sewable Design – Built-in plastic hooks for tack-sewing onto fabric or structures
- Weatherproof Buttons – Each dot is enclosed in a protective plastic housing (not submersible)
- Flexible Wiring – Wire strand between dots allows bending and movement without damage
- Chainable – Add more strands or disconnect unwanted dots at the end
- Single-Pin Control – Built-in PWM controller in each LED maintains colour without continuous data
Wiring
- Red Wire – +5V power
- Middle Wire – Data
- Edge Wire – Ground

Jargon buster
Plain-language definitions for the technical terms used above.
- LED
- A light-emitting diode is a small electronic component that lights up when current flows through it in the correct direction. In this kit, LEDs create the flashing effect, so polarity and correct soldering matter for the project to work.
- NeoPixel
- A type of addressable LED system where colour data is sent along a single digital data line from one LED or controller to the next. Compatibility matters because the timing and signal format must match for the lights or driver board to respond correctly.
- PCB
- A printed circuit board is a rigid board with copper tracks that connect electronic parts without loose wires. For this kit, the PCBs also form the airplane shape, so they are both the circuit base and part of the finished model.
- PWM
- Pulse Width Modulation is a way for a digital pin to simulate variable output power by switching on and off very quickly. It matters for controlling things like LED brightness, motor speed, or servo-style signals from a microcontroller pin.
- RGB
- Short for red, green and blue, usually referring to an LED that can mix those three colours. It matters because controlling an RGB LED teaches how separate outputs combine to create different colours.
