The Adafruit LC709203F Fuel Gauge monitors your single-cell LiPo or Li-Ion battery and reports both voltage and state of charge as a percentage over I2C. It handles the non-linear voltage-to-percentage conversion for you, so your project always knows exactly how much battery is left — just like the battery indicator on your phone.
With dual JST PH connectors for battery passthrough and STEMMA QT / Qwiic connectors for solderless I2C wiring, this breakout is easy to integrate into any project. It works with 3.3V or 5V power and logic, and supports an optional thermistor for battery temperature monitoring.
Key Features
- Battery Percentage Readout – Converts non-linear battery voltage to accurate state-of-charge percentage
- Cell Voltage Monitoring – Reports real-time battery voltage over I2C
- Configurable Pack Size – Set battery capacity for improved percentage accuracy
- Dual JST PH Connectors – Battery passthrough for easy inline integration
- STEMMA QT / Qwiic Connectors – Solderless I2C connection with daisy-chain support
- 3.3V & 5V Compatible – Works with Arduino, Feather, Raspberry Pi, and more

Resources
Jargon buster
Plain-language definitions for the technical terms used above.
- breakout
- A breakout is a small circuit board that makes a tiny or hard-to-solder component easier to connect to with standard pins. It matters because this OLED module can be wired into a microcontroller project without needing to solder directly to the display’s fine contacts.
- I2C
- I2C is a two-wire communication bus used by many sensors and small modules. It matters because several I2C devices can share the same two wires, but each device needs a compatible address and your controller must support I2C.
- IoT
- Short for Internet of Things, meaning physical devices that connect to networks or the internet to send data or be controlled remotely. It matters if you want projects such as connected sensors, remote controls or classroom data-logging activities.
- JST PH
- A small keyed plug-and-socket connector with 2 mm pin spacing, often used for low-power electronics connections. You need the correct JST PH cable, and its current rating limits how much power should be passed through it.
- LiPo
- A lithium polymer rechargeable battery commonly used in portable electronics projects. It matters because LiPo batteries need correct charging circuitry and care, and this board includes hardware intended for that battery type.
- pH
- A measure of how acidic or alkaline a liquid is, on a scale where 7 is neutral. For a water monitoring kit, pH tells you about water chemistry and whether the included probe matches the range and accuracy your project needs.
- Qwiic
- Qwiic is a plug-in connector system for I2C devices that uses small 4-pin cables, so you can connect compatible sensors without soldering. It matters because your controller or adapter also needs Qwiic, or you will need a cable or breakout to wire it up.
- State of charge
- The estimated remaining battery capacity, usually shown as a percentage. It helps you decide when to warn the user, reduce power use, or recharge the battery.
- STEMMA
- A plug-and-cable connection system used on some maker electronics boards to make wiring simpler. If a product uses STEMMA, you need the matching cable or connector type to plug it in without soldering.
- STEMMA QT
- A small plug-in connector system for I2C boards that lets you connect compatible sensors and controllers without soldering. It matters because it can make wiring faster and less error-prone, especially when adding several small modules to a project.
