A K-band 24GHz millimetre-wave ranging radar sensor with isolated transmitter and receiver antennas. Using FMCW modulation, it measures distance to object surfaces by transmitting and receiving microwaves, with all signal processing integrated on-board. Distance data is output directly via an asynchronous serial interface (ASI) at 3.3V TTL logic level.
Compared with optical and ultrasonic range sensors, this microwave radar offers a wider detection range and reliable performance in harsh conditions — it can penetrate most non-metallic materials, dust, smoke, and fog. The sensor also supports multi-target distance detection and custom working modes for processing distance spectral information.
Key Features
- 24GHz FMCW Radar – Millimetre-wave ranging with 0.5–20m detection distance

Jargon buster
Plain-language definitions for the technical terms used above.
- 3.3V TTL
- 3.3V TTL means the serial logic signals use 3.3 volt levels rather than 5 volts. This matters because connecting it directly to a 5V-only signal can damage the module or cause unreliable communication unless level shifting is used.
- DC
- DC means direct current, where electricity flows in one constant direction, as supplied by batteries, USB ports and many plug-pack power supplies. When a product specifies DC, it runs from a DC supply rather than mains AC, so you need to provide the correct voltage and polarity.
- FMCW
- Frequency-modulated continuous wave is a radar method that sends a changing radio signal and compares the reflection to estimate movement and distance. It matters for presence sensors because it can provide more detailed detection than a simple motion-only sensor.
- UAV
- UAV stands for Unmanned Aerial Vehicle, an aircraft that flies without an onboard pilot, such as a drone or autonomous aircraft. Because airborne platforms have limited payload, factors like weight, power draw and any positioning features such as GNSS or RTK are often important considerations.
