This red alphanumeric LED display gives you much more flexibility than a standard seven-segment module, making it suitable for showing numbers, letters, characters and symbols in compact projects.
It uses four 14-segment digits, with a decimal point provided for each digit. The display is common anode, so make sure your driver circuit or display driver IC is designed for that polarity.
With a slim 40mm x 11.95mm footprint, it is a handy choice for clocks, status readouts, counters, instrumentation panels and other maker projects where a simple numeric display is not enough.
Features:
- Display colour: Red
- Alphanumeric output: Shows numbers, characters and symbols
- Digits: Four 14-segment digits
- Decimal points: One decimal point per digit
Specifications:
- Display colour: Red
- Polarity: Common Anode
- Dimensions: 40mm x 11.95mm
- Max forward voltage: 2.4V
- Continuous forward current: 20mA
Jargon buster
Plain-language definitions for the technical terms used above.
- continuous forward current
- The amount of current a diode can carry in its normal conducting direction for an extended time without overheating. This rating helps you choose a diode that can safely handle the load in your circuit.
- LED
- A light-emitting diode (LED) is a small electronic component that emits light when current flows through it in the correct direction. Because it only conducts one way, its polarity matters, and a through-hole LED must be soldered the correct way around to light up.
