These hinged momentary step switches are reminiscent of the 16-step sequencer keys found on classic TR-808 synthesisers. Each white switch has a satisfying tactile click and a built-in red LED for status indication or visual feedback. Sold in a pack of three.

The switch is a momentary SPDT type with four legs — two common pins and two throw pins. The four-leg design provides mechanical stability. Check the pinout diagram or use a multimeter in continuity mode to identify the pole and throw connections.

Key Features

  • Momentary SPDT Switch – Hinged step-style with tactile click
  • Built-in Red LED – 3 mm LED embedded in the switch body
  • Four-Leg Mounting – Mechanically stable; suited for PCB or hand-wired installation
  • Classic Sequencer Style – Inspired by TR-808 step buttons

Specifications

  • Switch Type – Momentary SPDT
  • LED Colour – Red
  • LED Forward Voltage – 2.1 V
  • LED Max Current – 20 mA
  • Body Colour – White
Note: These switches are not breadboard or perfboard compatible — they require hand-wiring or a custom PCB. The LED has no built-in resistor; a ~1 kΩ series resistor is recommended.

Ideal For

  • Step sequencers and music controllers
  • Custom control panels and A/V equipment
  • LED-indicated momentary input buttons

Package Contents

  • 3× PB86 step switches (white body, red LED)

Jargon buster

Plain-language definitions for the technical terms used above.

LED
A light-emitting diode (LED) is a small electronic component that emits light when current flows through it in the correct direction. Because it only conducts one way, its polarity matters, and a through-hole LED must be soldered the correct way around to light up.
PCB
A printed circuit board (PCB) is a board, usually rigid, with etched copper tracks that connect electronic components together without loose wiring. Components are mounted on the board and signals route between them through the copper layout.
