The SparkFun MicroMod Single Pair Ethernet Function Board brings 10BASE-T1L two-wire Ethernet to the MicroMod ecosystem using the Analog Devices ADIN1110 transceiver. It enables long-range, 10Mbps full-duplex Ethernet communication over a single twisted pair with cable reaches up to 1.7km.
The ADIN1110 is an ultra-low power transceiver with an integrated MAC that connects to the host processor via SPI. Compliant with the IEEE 802.3cg-2019 standard, 10BASE-T1L is designed for industrial installations and field instruments where reduced cable weight and long-distance connectivity are essential.
Key Features
- 10BASE-T1L Ethernet – Single twisted pair, up to 10Mbps full duplex
- Long Range – 1km standard transmission, 1.7km max cable reach
- IEEE 802.3cg-2019 – Standards-compliant transceiver
- Integrated MAC – SPI interface, supports 16 MAC addresses
- Ultra-Low Power – ADIN1110 operates at 3.3V on this board
- Dual SPI Protocols – Generic and OPEN Alliance SPI supported
- 2.4V Transmission Amplitude

Jargon buster
Plain-language definitions for the technical terms used above.
- full-duplex
- Full-duplex means data can be sent and received at the same time. It matters for interactive serial links where commands and responses may need to travel in both directions without taking turns.
- M.2
- M.2 is a compact edge-connector standard for plugging small modules - such as SSDs, wireless cards or microcontroller modules - into a host board without soldering. The same slot shape can carry different interfaces (for example PCIe, SATA or USB), so keying and the supported module type need to be checked.
- MicroMod
- MicroMod is a modular board system where a small processor board plugs into a separate carrier board (via an M.2 connector) that provides connectors, power, and peripherals. Within the MicroMod system, a board is either a processor board or a carrier board, and you need a matching pair of both before you can run project code.
- SPI
- A fast serial communication bus often used for displays, memory cards, and sensors. It matters because SPI devices need specific pins for clock and data, plus a separate chip-select line for each device.
