Start prototyping low-power cellular IoT projects with a kit built around Digi XBee Cellular and the Qwiic Connect System. It brings together the core board, cellular module, sensor, SIM, antennas and cables needed to begin collecting data beyond normal Wi-Fi range.
The included SparkFun Digi XBee® Development Board is designed to help you quickly prototype low-power cellular IoT applications using the Digi XBee 3 Low-Power LTE-M/NB-IoT module or any existing through-hole Digi XBee module. The SHTC3 humidity sensor breakout connects neatly with the supplied Qwiic cable for remote sensing projects such as greenhouses, beehives or field monitoring.
A Digi XBee 3 Global LTE-M/NB-IoT cellular module is supplied programmed for LTE-M operation, and the Hologram eUICC SIM Card helps simplify network activation. The kit also includes cellular, GNSS and 2.4GHz antennas for wider connectivity options, plus documentation to help you get started.
Kit includes:
- 1x SparkFun Digi XBee® Development Board
- 1x Digi XBee® 3 Low-Power LTE-M/NB-IoT, GNSS, no SIM
- 1x SparkFun Humidity Sensor Breakout - SHTC3 (Qwiic)
- 1x Hologram eUICC SIM Card
- 1x LTE Wide Band Flex Antenna 600MHz - 6000MHz
- 1x Molex Flexible GNSS Antenna - U.FL (Adhesive)
- 1x PCB Antenna - U.FL (2.4GHz)
- 1x Flexible Qwiic Cable - 50mm
- 1x USB 3.1 Cable A to C - 3 Foot

A practical starter kit for makers and IoT developers working on remote monitoring, environmental sensing and low-power cellular data projects.
Jargon buster
Plain-language definitions for the technical terms used above.
- breakout
- A breakout is a small circuit board that makes a tiny or hard-to-solder component easier to connect to with standard pins. It matters because this OLED module can be wired into a microcontroller project without needing to solder directly to the display’s fine contacts.
- GNSS
- GNSS stands for Global Navigation Satellite System, covering positioning systems such as GPS and similar satellite networks. It matters here because high-precision GNSS modules can output lots of serial position data that this product can send wirelessly to a computer or phone.
- IoT
- Short for Internet of Things, meaning physical devices that connect to networks or the internet to send data or be controlled remotely. It matters if you want projects such as connected sensors, remote controls or classroom data-logging activities.
- LTE-M
- A low-power cellular data standard designed for Internet of Things devices rather than phones. It matters because the board needs LTE-M coverage and a suitable SIM plan in your area to send data over the mobile network.
- NB-IoT
- NB-IoT is a low-power cellular network standard designed for small amounts of data from remote devices. It matters for projects where the controller may need to send sensor readings from places without Wi-Fi or Ethernet.
- PCB antenna
- A PCB antenna is an antenna pattern built directly into the circuit board rather than a separate metal antenna. It matters because placement, nearby metal and enclosure design can affect wireless range.
- Qwiic
- Qwiic is a plug-in connector system for I2C devices that uses small 4-pin cables, so you can connect compatible sensors without soldering. It matters because your controller or adapter also needs Qwiic, or you will need a cable or breakout to wire it up.
- u.FL
- u.FL is a tiny snap-on antenna connector often used on compact wireless boards. A board with u.FL usually needs an external antenna, which matters if the product will be inside an enclosure or needs better antenna placement.
