This compact breakout board makes it easy to work with a male DE9 connector, commonly referred to as DB9. It brings the connector out to a maker-friendly plated through-hole header, so you can wire it into prototypes, test fixtures or custom serial-style cable assemblies.
All nine DE9 pins are routed to a 0.1in.-spaced header, with two extra ground connections also available. The board includes two mounting holes for securing it inside an enclosure or to a panel.
Supporting documentation includes the schematic, KiCad files and board dimensions, making it straightforward to integrate into your own hardware designs.

- breakout
- A breakout board carries a small or fine-pitched component and brings its connections out to standard, breadboard- and header-friendly pins. Describing a part as a breakout means it can be wired into a project without soldering directly to the component's tiny contacts.
- DE9/DB9
- A 9-pin D-shaped connector commonly used on older computer serial ports, industrial equipment, and test gear. The name matters because it tells you the connector has nine pins in a D-shaped shell, so any cable, adapter, or breakout you pair with it must match that pinout.
- PTH
- Plated through-hole means the pin holes are metal-lined so solder connects the pad on both sides of the board. It is useful for connectors and headers that need a strong mechanical and electrical connection.
- through-hole
