The SMA Male to RP-SMA Male Adapter converts between SMA and RP-SMA connector types, making it easy to pair antennas and cables that use different threading configurations. One end features a standard SMA male connector (centre pin, outer nut) and the other features an RP-SMA male connector (centre socket, outer nut).
This adapter is useful when your antenna or cable has an outer-thread (inner-nut) design that doesn't directly mate with your wireless module's connector.
Key Features
- SMA Male to RP-SMA Male – Bridges the gap between SMA and RP-SMA connector standards
- Compact Form Factor – Inline barrel adapter, no cable required
- Broad Compatibility – Works with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, LoRa, Zigbee, and other RF modules
Connector Details
- Side A – SMA male (centre pin, outer nut / inner thread)
- Side B – RP-SMA male (centre socket, outer nut / inner thread)
Package Contents
- 1× SMA Male to RP-SMA Male Adapter
Jargon buster
Plain-language definitions for the technical terms used above.
- LoRa
- LoRa is a long-range, low-power wireless radio technology often used for telemetry, remote sensors and other links that send small amounts of data over long distances. It is distinct from Bluetooth and WiFi, so sharing a connector or pinout with LoRa hardware does not mean a device actually uses LoRa.
- RF
- RF means radio frequency, referring to signals used for wireless communication and other high-frequency electronics. A low-noise, stable power supply is important for RF circuits because power noise can affect signal quality and measurements.
- SMA
- SMA is a small threaded coaxial (RF) connector widely used to attach antennas and other radio-frequency cables. A device with SMA antenna ports needs antennas or pigtails with matching SMA connectors, or a suitable adapter, to connect to them.
- Thread
- A low-power wireless mesh networking standard designed for smart home and IoT devices. It matters because Thread devices can relay messages through each other, helping build reliable networks for sensors and controllers.
- Zigbee
- A low-power wireless standard commonly used by smart home sensors, switches, and lights. It matters if you want the board to communicate with Zigbee devices or act as part of a home automation network.
