Add a tiny strip of glowing neon-style light to miniatures, props, costumes and displays with this flexible LED filament. It is made from dozens of micro LED diodes bonded to an ultra-flexible metal backing, then coated in colourful silicone for protection.
Unlike the classic nOOds filaments, this single-ended version has both contacts at one end, making it easier to route wiring in tight builds such as dioramas, dollhouses and miniature sets. It behaves like one long LED, so it can be PWM dimmed for animated or adjustable lighting effects.
Power it from 3V with current limiting; Adafruit recommends using a resistor to keep the current to a maximum of 50mA. The anode is the metal end with the little hole in it. If it does not light straight away, reverse the connection.
Specifications:
- Length: 128mm
- Recommended voltage: 3V
- Recommended maximum current: 50mA
- Contacts: both contacts at one end
- Pack quantity: one per pack
Jargon buster
Plain-language definitions for the technical terms used above.
- LED
- A light-emitting diode (LED) is a small electronic component that emits light when current flows through it in the correct direction. Because it only conducts one way, its polarity matters, and a through-hole LED must be soldered the correct way around to light up.
- PWM
- Pulse Width Modulation is a way for a digital pin to simulate variable output power by switching on and off very quickly. It matters for controlling things like LED brightness, motor speed, or servo-style signals from a microcontroller pin.
