Reviews of Raspberry Pi 5

Small computer with a few peripherals and ability to expand toa limit of 27W power use. A bit of a learning curve again back to ssh and finding a rdp like product that works with Win11 (tigervnc). I am not using latest of anything sadly but that means I can have support on the custom image from openplotter, after all this little pi is planned to become my boat plotter primarily but I also want to be able to see my engine parameters outside in the sun.

I am using this 16GB Raspberry Pi 5 device to provide packet filtering and proxying of Internet traffic from NBN. I have coupled this device with a (separately and previously purchased) HAT containing 1Gbps Ethernet port and a M.2 NVMe adaptor and with a (Little Bird supplied) Raspberry Pi 256GB NVMe SSD card. This combination provides me with a very fast throughput, at least it is more than adequate so as to not have any observable impact on traffic through the local network. Little Bird shipped this almost straight after I ordered it; I reckon their ordering and despatch systems are second to none! All in all, the 16GB Pi and the NVMe that I purchased from Little Bird Electronics have been a good combination.

I replaced my Pi 4 with the Pi 5 (both models have the same amount of Ram) and the Pi 5 is so much more powerful, I love it

Primarily got this for playing youtube and patreon videos in the bedroom andchecking out the capabilities of the device. Bought with OS, but upgraded to latest OS after brief testing. This is a surprisingly powerful little guy, and yet even the standard case fan keeps it sufficiently cool under heavy use. Will be getting another soon for other projects.

Been using pi’s since the pi 2. All are still operating, unlike most other computing gear. Early signs show this will run a few docker containers for a hobby web application. I have trusted Little Bird for a majority of my Pi hobby projects; fast despatch and great service
