This wiper/plunger is Spectra Symbol's recommended actuator for use with linear and rotary SoftPots, ThinPots and especially HotPots.
It provides a controlled contact force for actuating compatible potentiometer sensors. While these sensors can operate with multiple contact methods, this wiper/plunger is recommended for longer sensor life and the highest possible precision.
The design has been tested over a million actuator cycles on each linear pot variant, making it a solid choice for repeatable slider, position-sensing and user-input builds.
Specifications:
- Minimum Force: 1 Newton
- Maximum Force: 3 Newtons
- Tip Material: Delrin
- Thread Pitch: M1.0 (1mm)
- Threaded Body Length: 14mm
Jargon buster
Plain-language definitions for the technical terms used above.
- potentiometer
- A variable resistor usually turned with a knob or shaft to create an adjustable electrical signal. It is often used for inputs such as volume, brightness or position, so it helps beginners learn how a microcontroller reads changing values.
- Thread
- A low-power wireless mesh networking standard designed for smart home and IoT devices. It matters because Thread devices can relay messages through each other, helping build reliable networks for sensors and controllers.
