The Pololu D42V55F24 is a compact synchronous step-down, or buck, switching regulator for converting a higher DC input voltage down to a regulated 24 V output. It is designed for efficient power conversion in applications where a linear regulator would waste too much energy as heat.
The board accepts input voltages from 24 V up to 60 V and can deliver up to 4 A, with typical continuous output current depending on input voltage and thermal conditions. Efficiency is around 90% to 95%, varying with load, input and output voltage.
Protection and control features include input reverse-voltage protection, over-current protection, thermal shutdown and soft-start to limit inrush current. The module is prototyping-friendly, with duplicated power rails, six 0.1″ grid-compatible connections and three mounting holes for #2 or M2 screws.
Features:
- Regulator type: Compact synchronous step-down (buck) switching regulator
- Efficient conversion: Reduces a higher input voltage to a lower output voltage while increasing available current
- Input protection: Includes input reverse-voltage protection
- Over-current protection: Includes over-current protection
- Thermal protection: Includes thermal shutdown
- Soft-start: Includes soft-start to limit inrush current
- Mounting: Includes three mounting holes for #2 or M2 screws
- Prototyping connections: Includes six 0.1″ grid-compatible connections (VIN, VOUT, GND, VRP, EN, PG)
- Power rails: Includes duplicated power rails for easy prototyping

Use this regulator for 24 V rails in robotics, automation, LED systems and other DC power projects where efficient conversion from a higher supply is needed.
Jargon buster
Plain-language definitions for the technical terms used above.
- DC
- DC means direct current, where electricity flows in one constant direction, as supplied by batteries, USB ports and many plug-pack power supplies. When a product specifies DC, it runs from a DC supply rather than mains AC, so you need to provide the correct voltage and polarity.
- GND
- GND is the ground or reference connection (0 V) for a circuit. When connecting two devices together, their grounds must be joined so both agree on what counts as a low or high signal.
- LED
- A light-emitting diode (LED) is a small electronic component that emits light when current flows through it in the correct direction. Because it only conducts one way, its polarity matters, and a through-hole LED must be soldered the correct way around to light up.
