Paper Circuits Battery Holder with screw
Paper circuits are a fantastic way to teach the basics and fundamentals of creating an electric circuit without the need to solder or code a single thing!
If you are unfamiliar, a paper circuit is a functioning electronic circuit built on a paper surface instead of a PCB. Projects can range from greeting cards, to origami, to traditional art such as paintings or drawings. What makes them unique is the use of traditional fine art techniques to create a circuit that is combines aesthetics and functionality. Paper circuits are becoming more and more popular in the hobby electronics world. The easy availability of craft-like materials and increasing abundance of new products has created a really unique ecosystem for crafters looking to make the leap to electronics projects.
The ACCC has come out with guidelines for using coin cell batteries and now have essential requirements for using Coin Cells in goods that will be used by children.
(I) be designed and manufactured such that the batteries are not accessible to young children when the device or the packaging of any replacement batteries provided is subjected to normal use or reasonably foreseeable misuse,
(II) (a) have a battery compartment (or other enclosure) that is secured (preferably with a captive screw, a bolt or mechanism) such that it requires a tool to gain access to the batteries,
With this in mind we have come up with the Paper circuits kit that has a enclosure for the coin cell battery and a breakout board that you can apply copper tape directly to.
This comes with:
- 1 x Battery pack with screw and breakout board.
- 1 x CR2032
Before running the Paper Circuits class the teacher will be able to add a single CR2032 battery to the battery pack.
WARNING - KEEP BATTERIES OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN
Swallowing may lead to serious injury in as little as 2 hours or death, due to chemical burns and potential perforation of the oesophagus.
If you suspect your child has swallowed or inserted a button battery immediately call the 24-hour Poisons Information Centre on 131126 for fast, expert advice.
