Excellent little AI computer for robotics
I bought the Jetson Orin Nano Super specifically for a robotics project and have been very impressed with it so far. Setup was straightforward and I’ve had it running Ubuntu with JetPack, CUDA, TensorRT and ROS 2 without any major issues. I’m currently using it as the main computer in a ROS-based robot, where the combination of its small size, low power requirements and AI performance makes it a great fit. The 8GB of memory does put some limits on how large you can go with local AI models, but for robotics, computer vision, object detection and other edge-AI workloads it has plenty of capability. The 67 TOPS performance is particularly impressive for something this compact. I also like having NVMe support rather than being restricted to microSD storage. Once you start adding ROS packages, AI models and development tools, having fast NVMe storage makes a noticeable difference. Mine is now installed directly into my robot and has been reliable throughout the development and testing I've done so far. Very happy with it and would definitely recommend it for robotics, computer vision or anyone wanting to experiment with AI at the edge.
