Add a soft pink neon-style glow to miniature scenes, props and lighting projects with this flexible LED filament. It is made from dozens of micro LED diodes bonded onto an ultra-flexible metal backing, then coated in colourful silicone for protection.

These LED “noods” are often used for Edison-style bulb effects, hearts, stars, dioramas, dollhouses and other decorative builds. They look and feel a bit like EL wire, but behave like a long LED, so they can be PWM dimmed easily.

Power it from 24V by connecting to both ends. The anode should be the metal end with a little hole in it; if it does not light straight away, reverse the connection. Adafruit recommends current limiting with a resistor, with a maximum of 500mA.

Specifications:

  • Length: 1200mm long, 1.2 meters or 47 inches
  • Supply voltage: 24V
  • Recommended current limiting: resistor to let max 500mA through
  • 24V: 580mA
  • 23V: 350mA
  • 22V: 140mA
  • 21V: 30mA
  • 20.5V: 10mA
  • Pack quantity: Comes one per pack

Great for makers who want compact neon-like accent lighting without EL wire hardware.

Jargon buster

Plain-language definitions for the technical terms used above.

LED
A light-emitting diode (LED) is a small electronic component that emits light when current flows through it in the correct direction. Because it only conducts one way, its polarity matters, and a through-hole LED must be soldered the correct way around to light up.
PWM
Pulse Width Modulation is a way for a digital pin to simulate variable output power by switching on and off very quickly. It matters for controlling things like LED brightness, motor speed, or servo-style signals from a microcontroller pin.
