This compact 5-way directional pad gives your microcontroller project a familiar tactile input for up, down, left, right and centre presses.
It is an SMD switch, making it suitable for custom PCBs where you need a low-profile navigation control or menu input without using multiple separate buttons.
This is the same D-Pad switch used on the SparkFun Qwiic Directional Pad.
Specifications:
- Rating: 12VDC, 100mA
- Contact Resistance: 80mΩ Max
- Insulation Resistance: 100MΩ Min
- Mechanical Life: 50,000 cycles Min
- Mounting Style: SMD
- Dimensions: 10.5 x 10.5 x 1.7mm
A handy choice for handheld controllers, small user interfaces, menu navigation and maker projects that need directional input.
Jargon buster
Plain-language definitions for the technical terms used above.
- microcontroller
- A microcontroller is a small computer on a chip that runs your program and controls connected inputs and outputs. For this product, it is the part that reads buttons and sensors, drives the display and speaker, and communicates over Bluetooth.
- Qwiic
- Qwiic is a plug-in connector system for I2C devices that uses small 4-pin cables, so you can connect compatible sensors without soldering. It matters because your controller or adapter also needs Qwiic, or you will need a cable or breakout to wire it up.
