This motion-activated MP3 player is designed to play audio automatically when movement is detected by PIR sensors. The sensors are separate from the player, so they can be positioned where they are most useful while the audio electronics stay mounted nearby.

This dual-PIR version connects external PIR sensors to the K1 and K2 trigger inputs. The remaining terminals, K3 to K7, as well as the 485+ and 485- terminals, are designed for other purposes and should not be altered or used.

Audio files can be uploaded over the micro USB port from a computer using a USB data cable. Keep the Config.txt file on the internal flash memory when updating audio files. A power adapter is not included; a 12V 2A power adapter is suggested.

The unit can also activate an external LED light while a sound is playing. The output voltage at the Load+ and Load- terminals matches the device’s power supply voltage, so if the device is powered with 12V, the LED light must also support a working voltage of 12V.

Features:

  • Flexible motion sensing: Features a separate PIR motion sensor, allowing for flexible and convenient placement separate from the audio player.
  • Customisable options: Available in two models: one with a single PIR sensor and another with dual PIR sensors, giving users options tailored to their specific needs.
  • Independent sound triggering: In models with dual PIR sensors, each sensor can independently activate its associated sound file, allowing for simultaneous playback without interruption.
  • High-quality audio playback: Equipped with a high-quality built-in MP3 player and 8MB of flash memory, ensuring reliable and immersive audio playback.
  • Extended storage options: Supports USB flash drives and microSD cards as additional storage options, with a capacity of up to 32GB each.
  • Powerful amplification: Comes with a class D 10-watt amplifier for loud and clear audio output.
  • User-friendly operations: Allows easy uploading of audio files via a micro USB port connected to a computer using a USB data cable.
  • Adjustable volume: Features an integrated potentiometer for easy volume adjustment.
  • Versatile connectivity: Capable of driving external equipment, such as warning lights or motors, while simultaneously playing audio.
  • Audio output flexibility: Includes a 3.5mm audio output jack for connections to external amplifiers or active speakers.
  • Durable construction: Encased in a robust aluminium alloy case to ensure durability and longevity.
  • Industrial-grade design: Boasts an industrial-grade build that provides strong anti-jamming capabilities.

Specifications:

  • Working voltage: 12-24V DC
  • Working current: ≤1000mA
  • Power consumption: ≤10W
  • Flash memory size: 8MB
  • Audio format: MP3
  • PIR sensor operating voltage: DC 5-24V
  • PIR sensor current consumption: ≤10mA (DC 12V)
  • PIR sensor standby current: ≤60uA
  • PIR sensor level output: 0V (3.3V in standby)
  • PIR sensor delay time: 3 seconds
  • PIR sensor detecting distance: ≤6m (non-adjustable)
  • PIR sensor detecting angle: 120°
  • PIR sensor lens diameter: 23mm
  • PIR sensor dimensions: 52 x 36 x 23 mm
  • PIR sensor mounting hole diameter: 2.5mm
  • PIR sensor cable length: 45 cm
  • PIR sensor operating temperature range: -20°C to +50°C

Suitable for motion-triggered audio alerts, interactive displays, warning messages, props and simple automation projects where sound playback needs to respond to movement.

Jargon buster

Plain-language definitions for the technical terms used above.

DC
DC means direct current, where electricity flows in one constant direction, as supplied by batteries, USB ports and many plug-pack power supplies. When a product specifies DC, it runs from a DC supply rather than mains AC, so you need to provide the correct voltage and polarity.
Flash memory
Flash memory is non-volatile memory that retains stored data even when power is removed, and can be erased and rewritten in blocks. It lets data such as firmware, settings or saved records persist across power cycles.
LED
A light-emitting diode (LED) is a small electronic component that emits light when current flows through it in the correct direction. Because it only conducts one way, its polarity matters, and a through-hole LED must be soldered the correct way around to light up.
PIR sensor
A passive infrared sensor detects changes in heat, usually from a person moving across its view. It matters because PIR sensors are common for lights and alarms, but they can miss people who are present but not moving much.
potentiometer
A variable resistor usually turned with a knob or shaft to create an adjustable electrical signal. It is often used for inputs such as volume, brightness or position, so it helps beginners learn how a microcontroller reads changing values.
