This CNC-machined metal enclosure is designed to protect and cool a ROCK Pi 5B single board computer. The rugged aluminium housing helps shield the board from physical damage, vibration and accidental contact while keeping a compact, tidy form factor.

A bottom heat-dissipation structure transfers heat from the SoC area through the thermal interface into the metal chassis, allowing the case to act as a passive cooling surface during demanding embedded workloads. It is suited to projects such as robotics controllers, edge computing nodes, media servers, smart gateways and industrial SBC prototypes.

Assembly is designed to be straightforward, with alignment points and copper pillars for positioning the ROCK Pi 5B correctly in the enclosure. The package includes the ROCK 5B Metal Case, M2.5 3 screws x4 and Thermal grease (packet) x1.

Features:

  • CNC-machined metal enclosure with high structural strength
  • Integrated bottom heat dissipation structure for improved cooling
  • Simple installation with thermal interface support

Specifications:

  • Compatible product: ROCK Pi 5B Single Board Computer
  • Material: Metal

A practical upgrade for ROCK Pi 5B builds that need better mechanical protection and passive thermal management in a clean metal case.

Jargon buster

Plain-language definitions for the technical terms used above.

edge computing
Edge computing means processing data close to where it is collected, such as on the device itself, rather than sending everything to the cloud. This can reduce delays, internet dependence, and privacy concerns in sensor, camera, and robotics projects.
M2.5
A metric screw thread size with a 2.5 mm nominal diameter. It matters for mounting because screws, standoffs, and holes must use the same size to fit securely without damaging the board.
Shield
An add-on board that plugs into a main controller board to give it extra features such as sensing, motor control or communication. Knowing a product supports shields helps you judge whether it can connect neatly into an existing maker-board setup.
thermal grease
A paste placed between a chip and a heatsink to fill tiny air gaps and improve heat transfer. Using it correctly helps the heatsink pull heat away more effectively and can improve stability under load.
