The M5StickC Yun HAT is a cloud-shaped multi-sensor environmental monitoring accessory designed to mount on the M5StickC via the top socket. It integrates a temperature and humidity sensor (SHT20), barometric pressure sensor (BMP280), a photoresistor for ambient light detection, and 14 SK6812 RGB LEDs — all controlled by an on-board STM32F030F4 microprocessor.

The three-layer design features a main circuit PCB, a light-guiding acrylic middle layer with polished edges for even LED illumination, and a structural top board. The board includes a hook hole and two 6 × 4 mm magnet mounting positions for easy wall or fridge placement. An independent external power interface is also provided.

Key Features

  • SHT20 Sensor – Temperature and humidity measurement
  • BMP280 Sensor – Barometric pressure measurement
  • Photoresistor – Ambient light detection
  • 14× SK6812 RGB LEDs – Programmable lighting effects through polished acrylic diffuser
  • STM32F030F4 MCU – On-board microprocessor with streamlined API
  • M5StickC Compatible – Plugs into the M5StickC top socket
  • Mounting Options – Hook hole and 2× magnet positions (6 × 4 mm)
  • External Power – Independent power input interface

Jargon buster

Plain-language definitions for the technical terms used above.

API
An API is a software interface that lets a program control hardware or features provided by the operating system. In this product, API support matters if you want your software to adjust display settings such as brightness or contrast automatically.
IoT
Short for Internet of Things, meaning physical devices that connect to networks or the internet to send data or be controlled remotely. It matters if you want projects such as connected sensors, remote controls or classroom data-logging activities.
LED
A light-emitting diode is a small electronic component that lights up when current flows through it in the correct direction. In this kit, LEDs create the flashing effect, so polarity and correct soldering matter for the project to work.
MicroPython
A version of the Python programming language made to run on microcontrollers. It matters because it lets beginners write readable code to control LEDs, sensors, motors and displays without needing to start with lower-level languages.
PCB
A printed circuit board is a rigid board with copper tracks that connect electronic parts without loose wires. For this kit, the PCBs also form the airplane shape, so they are both the circuit base and part of the finished model.
photoresistor
A light-sensitive resistor whose resistance changes depending on how much light hits it. It matters for projects such as night-lights and light alarms because it gives a simple way for a microcontroller to sense brightness.
RGB
Short for red, green and blue, usually referring to an LED that can mix those three colours. It matters because controlling an RGB LED teaches how separate outputs combine to create different colours.
