The Luckfox Core1106 Smart 86 Box is a complete Linux touch panel that mounts into a standard 86-type wall box, in place of a light switch. Four versions — check the Wireless option before you order

This page sells all four factory versions of the Luckfox Core1106 Smart 86 Box. Two of them have Wi-Fi and Bluetooth fitted, and two do not. Wireless is not an add-on — it is soldered at the factory, so you cannot add it later. Pick your combination with the Processor and Wireless options above.

Where wireless is fitted it is 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi 6 plus Bluetooth 5.2/BLE. It is 2.4 GHz only — there is no 5 GHz band on any version.

About the model number — and "1408B"

Luckfox and Waveshare both identify these boards by a four-digit code: 0208, 1208, 0408 and 1408. The first digit is the radio (0 = none, 1 = Wi-Fi + Bluetooth) and the second is the memory (2 = 128 MB, 4 = 256 MB).

There is no "1408B". None of the four carry a letter suffix. Other boards in the Luckfox family do use A/B suffixes — the Pico Mini A and B, the Pico Ultra B, the Pico Pi A and B — which is the usual source of the mix-up. If you have seen this panel written up as a "1408B", it is the 1408: the RV1106G3 version with wireless.

What it is

The Core1106 Smart 86 Box is a complete Linux wall panel. It is built to the standard 86-type form factor used by light switches and wall outlets, so it mounts into an ordinary 86 mm wall box and gives you a 4-inch square touchscreen running software you write yourself. Behind the screen sits a Rockchip RV1106 with an NPU, two isolated relays, an RS485 port and Ethernet — which makes it equally at home as a smart-home controller, a room thermostat, an access-control panel, or an operator terminal on a machine.

What differs between the versions

  • Processor: RV1106G3 (1 TOPS NPU) or RV1106G2 (0.5 TOPS NPU). Both are single-core ARM Cortex-A7 32-bit at 1.2 GHz with NEON and FPU.
  • Memory: 256 MB 16-bit DDR3L on the G3 versions, 128 MB on the G2 versions.
  • Wireless: 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi 6 + Bluetooth 5.2/BLE on the 1408 and 1208 only.

  • Audio: onboard SMT microphone, plus one MX1.25 2P audio expansion connector. Waveshare document this connector as a speaker output for an 8 Ω 1 W speaker; Luckfox's own specification lists it as a microphone expansion interface. If speaker output matters to your build, please check with us before ordering.
  • USB: 1 × USB device port on USB Type-C, used for both power and firmware flashing
  • Debug: SH1.0 3P serial header
  • Real-time clock: coin-cell battery holder on board (battery not included)
  • Expansion: 14-pin multi-function header for the 86 Panel bottom board
  • Controls: BOOT and RESET buttons, ACT status LED
  • Power: wide-range DC 6–30 V on the power screw terminal, or 5 V over USB Type-C
  • Operating system: Buildroot, as supported across the whole Luckfox Pico series

Before you order — mounting depth

  • Use an 86-type back box at least 33 mm deep.
  • If you plan to use the RJ45 Ethernet port, allow 35 mm or more. In a 33–35 mm box, use a short-body RJ45 patch lead so the plug clears the back of the panel.
  • The 86-type back box and mounting screws are not included.

Plain-language definitions for the technical terms used above.

BLE
BLE stands for Bluetooth Low Energy, a Bluetooth mode designed for low power use and broad compatibility with modern phones and computers. It connects well to battery-powered and mobile devices, including Apple hardware, though it behaves differently from Bluetooth Classic and its serial-style profiles.
DC
DC means direct current, where electricity flows in one constant direction, as supplied by batteries, USB ports and many plug-pack power supplies. When a product specifies DC, it runs from a DC supply rather than mains AC, so you need to provide the correct voltage and polarity.
eMMC
Embedded MultiMediaCard is built-in flash storage soldered onto a board, similar in purpose to an SD card but integrated. It matters because it holds the operating system and files without needing a separate memory card.
fps
fps means frames per second, or how many video images are captured or displayed each second. A higher fps generally gives smoother motion, which helps when the camera or the scene being viewed is moving.
FPU
A floating-point unit is hardware inside a processor that speeds up calculations with decimal numbers. This helps when projects use maths-heavy tasks such as motion sensing, filtering sensor readings, or audio processing.
H.265
A video compression standard, also called HEVC, that reduces video file size and bandwidth compared with older formats. It matters for vision and AI projects because hardware H.265 encode/decode support can handle many camera streams more efficiently.
IPS
IPS is a type of LCD panel that keeps colours and contrast more consistent when viewed from an angle. This matters for small displays that may be mounted in a dashboard, handheld project, or enclosure where the viewer is not always looking straight on.
ISP
In electronics, ISP usually means In-System Programming, a way to load firmware onto a microcontroller while it stays on the board (often via an ICSP header), or an Image Signal Processor, hardware that turns raw camera sensor data into usable images and offloads the main CPU. The surrounding context shows which meaning applies.
LED
A light-emitting diode (LED) is a small electronic component that emits light when current flows through it in the correct direction. Because it only conducts one way, its polarity matters, and a through-hole LED must be soldered the correct way around to light up.
RJ45
The common plug and socket style used for wired Ethernet network cables. If a board has an RJ45 connector, you can usually plug it into standard Ethernet cabling without making a custom connector.
RS485
RS485 is a robust differential serial communication standard often used in factories, farms and buildings where cables may be long or electrically noisy, and it can link many devices on a single pair of wires. When a product lists RS485, it can communicate with industrial sensors, meters and control equipment over longer distances than typical hobby serial wiring.
screw terminal
A connector that clamps bare wire using a small screw, making it easier to attach and remove wires without soldering. Screw terminals are useful for power wiring or thicker wires that are not suited to small plug-in connectors.
TOPS
TOPS means trillions of operations per second, often used to describe AI accelerator performance. It helps compare whether a computing module is suited to lightweight image recognition or more demanding neural-network workloads.
Type-C
USB Type-C (USB-C) is a small, reversible USB connector used for charging, power, and data transfer on many modern devices. A Type-C port or plug indicates the cable and charger connection needed to power, charge, or communicate with a device.
