A pair of Lite-On LTP-305 red LED dot matrix displays, each with a 5×7 pixel grid plus a decimal point. Originally developed by Texas Instruments in 1971 and now manufactured by Lite-On, these compact matrices are a classic choice for scrolling text, numeric displays, and indicator panels.

The matrices can be driven by a microcontroller or a dedicated matrix driver IC such as the IS31FL3730. Up to six displays can be daisy-chained for longer text readouts.

Key Features

  • 5×7 Pixel Grid – Plus decimal point per display
  • Red LEDs – Classic dot matrix appearance
  • Sold as a Pair – Two LTP-305 matrices included
  • IS31FL3730 Compatible – Works with common LED matrix driver ICs

Ideal For

  • Scrolling text and numeric displays
  • Retro-style indicator panels
  • Raspberry Pi and microcontroller projects

Package Contents

  • 2× Lite-On LTP-305 red LED matrix displays

Jargon buster

Plain-language definitions for the technical terms used above.

LED
A light-emitting diode (LED) is a small electronic component that emits light when current flows through it in the correct direction. Because it only conducts one way, its polarity matters, and a through-hole LED must be soldered the correct way around to light up.
microcontroller
A microcontroller is a small computer on a single chip that runs a stored program and controls connected inputs and outputs such as buttons, sensors, displays and communication interfaces. In a device built around one, it is the part that executes the code and coordinates the device's behaviour.
